Kilim, Cicim and Sili
These designate the various weaving techniques. A Kilim is a flatweave of
which the surface and the underside are identical. It can have specifications
such as Slitweave, which is typical for the Anatolian style. In contrast Sumak,
Sili and Cicim are weaving techniques whereby decorative devices are woven
into the flatweave surface either in whole or part. This ornamentation resembles
embroidery and only one side of the carpet is used.
