It is generally believed that the density of knots determines the value of a carpet. While this may be partially true with regard to silk carpets, the number of knots in Nomadic works is irrelevant. Knotted carpets vary according to the pile. With regard to the Kilim one finds both a thick, rough weave and a thin, fine weave. It is important to consider the intended use. A carpet that will often be walked on should be rather robust. More fine works are suitable for decorative purposes. The more tightly a carpet is knotted or woven, the more detailed its design.
